Leading Great

By Pastor John on 6/17/2013
Here some additional thoughts from my message this past Sunday called "Leading Great."  I don't always have time to include everything I'd like to say in the Sunday morning message so I'm including it here for further reflection.  If you didn't hear the message on Sunday, you can listen to it online.

Revelation 30:20
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”

Some of the knocks are going to be from Jesus as it says in Revelation 30. If the knock is from Jesus, yes, invite Him in and ask Him to stay. Make Him a part of your family.

But Jesus isn’t the only one knocking at your door. We can’t be naïve to this. I guarantee that your family will get knocks on the door as the enemy tries to get in and cause harm.

These knocks can be things like sin, stress, financial pressures, pornography, adultery, fear, idols… These are the knocks that we don’t want to let in.

These knocks may come in the form of a friend request on Facebook, a text message, an offer for something we can’t afford, a TV show or even a creepy person that tries to get into our lives.

We have a choice as to who we open the door to. We can’t always keep these things from knocking. These knocks will likely come to all of our doors at some point but that doesn’t mean we have to let them in and become part of our family.

We have to fight for our family and part of that means being the gatekeeper and being careful as to who and what we let in. Sometimes the most loving thing we can do is to slam the door shut to protect our families when sin tries to creep in.
