A day in the Life of a Pastor - Part 1

By Pastor John on 1/7/2008
Saturdays are crazy!  Many of you know that I work about 80 hours a week - 40 on my business and 40 on the church.  That's 2 full time jobs!  Saturdays are one of the only days that I get to focus 100% on the church (every other day is split between church and work except Sunday which I manage to find time and rest).  This past Saturday was no different.

I got up on Saturday, ate breakfast while reading my Bible, and began brainstorming about a couple new ministries (which I won't reveal quite yet).  I then did a bunch of technical research for pulling off one of the ministries.  We purchased and HD camcorder this week so I ran over to my parents house, at lunch there, grabbed the camera and headed out to Webster Park to get some "winter storm" footage to play in the background of "Praise You in the Storm."  It wasn't necessary, but a great way to test out this camera.

I've never captured HD footage, so when I got back to the office, I had to find a program that would capture it.  My version of Final Cut was released before AVCHD technology so I couldn't do it with my typical editing software.  Finally, I figured out that iMovie supports AVCHD so I grabbed the footage with that and edited with final cut.n  Then I spent an hour or so trying to figure out how to set up Final Cut for HD editing.  This took me a few hours.

I got another free meal back at my parents' house and then back over to my house to finish up Sunday media.  We use a program called Media Shout (which is great) but it takes a while to set up.  I also prayed my heart out over Sunday's service, practiced my parts for worship, and got my gear packed up.  By 1:30 am on Sunday morning, I was ready for bed.  Up by 5:45 the next morning and ready to worship.  Hard getting up but I made up my sleep after church.  Yesterday was an amazing service - lots of people - lots of hearts touched!
